UUM ONLINE: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) leaps 80 positions in the Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021 when it is listed at the 121st position compared to the 201-250 position last year.

28 Februari 2021 - Satu sesi diskusi santai anjuran Pusat Alumni yang bertajuk “CLEAN CAMPUS, GREEN CAMPUS” dengan kerjasama KDEB Waste Management telah diadakan bagi memberi peluang kepada warga UUM dan komuniti untuk mendengar perkongsian ilmu dan pengalaman daripada para panel yang juga merupakan alumni Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

Sesi diskusi santai ini telah dikendalikan oleh Pengarah Pusat Alumni iaitu Prof Madya Dr Lily Julienti binti Abu Bakar selaku moderator bersama-sama tiga ahli panel jemputan iaitu Encik Ramli Mohd Tahir (Managing Director & Board Member of KDEBWM), Encik Mohd Idris bin Mohamed Yusof (General Manager Operation) dan Encik Khairil bin Khalid (Head of Operation Subang Jaya).

Dalam sesi itu, pelbagai petua yang menarik telah dikongsikan oleh para panel tentang cara-cara bagi memastikan kebersihan alam sekitar tetap terpelihara termasuk cara pengurusan sisa pepejal dengan betul. Perkongsian daripada ahli panel berjaya menarik perhatian dan mendapat respon positif daripada penonton yang menyaksikan secara langsung di Facebook rasmi Pusat Alumni.

UUM ONLINE: UUM's position continues to soar when three subjects have shown an increase in the QS World University Rankings (QSWUR) by Subject 2021 compared to the previous year.

The subjects are Accounting and Finance from 251-300 to 201-250; Business and Management Studies from 251-300 to 201-250 and Economics and Econometrics from 351-400 to 301-350.

Another main subject on the ascent is the Social Science and Management from 401-450 to 340 while the Computer Science and Information System subject makes its debut at 601-650.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani expressed his elation over UUM's achievement in the QS World University Rankings by Subject which has so far shown a consistent increase from year to year.

According to him the great achievement was the result of the hard work put in by the campus denizens in elevating UUM to higher position and also a result of the UUM's Strategic Plan which has entered Phase 3 (2021-2025).

"I hope this momentum will be maintained and further enhanced in the future so that UUM will continue to stand out on the international arena in line with the slogan, 'We Are Global'," he said.

This year, a total of 1,453 institutions around the world managed to occupy the overall ranking with a total of 81 million citations published.

In this latest edition, a total of 51 subjects have been listed and grouped in five main areas namely Art and Humanities; Life Science and Medicine; Natural Science; Social Science and Management as well as Engineering and Technology.
